Conceptual design of the next generation of Platform Door Systems for Metro de Madrid.
We collaborated with Metro de Madrid in the conceptual design of the future Platform Door Systems (PSD), a project that improves safety, accessibility and user experience through a more modern, safe and efficient transport system aligned with the Metro 4.0 design language and brand.
To carry out this project, the analysis and collaboration phase with Metro de Madrid was fundamental. During the process, we held meetings with the different Metro departments and other parties involved, which allowed us to arrive at a design proposal that meets all the technical, aesthetic and operational requirements of this innovative transportation vision.
PSD (Platform Screen Doors) systems are complex engineering elements so the challenge was to understand the design limitations of other approved and certified products and adapt our solution to a viable system for development and integration.
Our design focuses on optimizing the user experience, incorporating aspects that mitigate the feeling of enclosure through a design of dynamic and functional aesthetics, which facilitates a pleasant and fluid transit through the platforms and access to the cars.
For us, clarity of information and user-system interaction was a priority. The layout and visibility of the doors, together with clear information on their status, provide a simple, legible and elegant design that allows users, whether regular or new, to easily understand the operation of the facilities and enjoy an accessible and modern mobility environment.
Result
The result is a modular design based on interchangeable and scalable elements that adapt to different platform configurations and to the various current and future train models in the transition to emerging trends in suburban mobility.
Our approach of minimalist, elegant and futuristic lines is aligned with the new visual identity that Metro de Madrid wants to project, prioritizing at all times the maximum safety in the transit between platform and carriage.
